“If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have the safest way to health.” – Hippocrates
Your mind and body are fueled by proper nutrition and fitness. But when addiction takes over, proper diet and exercise fall by the wayside. At Footprints Beachside Recovery, you will focus on eating right and exercising to help strengthen your body and mind after addiction.
How Nutrition and Fitness Are Worked into Your Treatment
Activities like cooking for yourself and exercising have a way of triggering healthy self discovery.
But rediscovering who you are and what you like again can’t happen if someone is cooking for you and telling you what exercises to do. That’s why these activities throughout your treatment program mimic real life as much as possible.
Diet and Nutrition
To help you eat healthy, our dietician comes in twice a month to coach you on proper diet and nutrition, so you can begin cooking for yourself while in treatment. You’ll also be given an allowance every Sunday to purchase weekly groceries for healthy meals.
Proper guidance and being held accountable for your own meal prep will give you the confidence needed to take care of yourself and eat right after leaving treatment.
Research has found that exercise offers an extensive list of benefits. Not only does it help strengthen your muscles and bones, it also brightens your mood, increases your energy levels and even improves your brain function and memory.
When you’re in treatment, you’ll have access to a gym six days a week where you can run, bike, lift weights and more. With daily opportunities to go to the gym, you’ll develop healthy exercise habits to take with you when you leave our treatment facility.
