Holistic Therapy Methods & Activities
At Footprints Beachside Recovery Center, our program is structured around a holistic approach to addiction. We know that it doesn’t just affect someone’s mental, physical, or spiritual state –addiction takes hold of all three areas, which then interact with one another.
In order to heal each area of an individual’s addiction, we offer several alternative therapy methods for our clients to participate in. Providing holistic addiction treatment activities supplements and strengthens more traditional addiction therapies, like individual or group therapy.
Watch us explain our approach in this video:
Yoga aims at opening up one’s energy channels, increasing one’s instinct, intuition, inner wisdom, self-awareness, authentic self-esteem, self-identification, and general feeling of intactness and well-being. Not only is the body and nervous system detoxed, yoga also reduces mental stress while strengthening muscles, ligaments and joints. What is left is a healthy, happy, creative, empowered, self-motivated and energized person. Footprints utilizes specific yoga sequences to help accelerate the addiction recovery process. Expressive Arts Therapy is the practice of combining the visual arts, movement, drama, music, writing and other creative processes to foster deep personal growth, community development, and social change. By integrating the arts processes and allowing one to flow into another, we gain access to our inner resources for healing, clarity, and creativity. Art therapy for addicts allows the mind-body-spirit connection to thrive, which is an integral tool in substance abuse treatment. Learn more about how we integrate art therapy into our program.
Feel relaxed, restored, and refreshed with massage therapy for addiction. Massage also helps with overall relaxation by stimulating pressure receptors, allowing people to clear their minds and focus on healing. At Footprints, we also believe that the benefits of massage therapy for addiction are vital in the detox process. By improving blood circulation, your body can flush out toxic substances more quickly. Massage therapy during an addiction recovery program helps boost the potential for both mental and physical recovery and can positively impact other therapy methods. At Footprints, we believe exercise and fitness contribute greatly to the recovery of addiction. Often neglected, clients are encouraged to attend the full gym and begin a training regimen. Not only does the physical being improve, but exercise releases the natural endorphins and assists in relieving stress, anxiety, and overcoming addictive cravings. A balanced diet and learning how to benefit the body is a key part of a holistic addiction treatment approach and provides the groundwork for a healthy, drug free lifestyle. Feel and look better while in treatment!
In conjunction with an intensive & holistic alcohol & drug treatment program, we begin to partake in weekly recreational activities that are available in our scenic beach location. From fishing, paddle boarding, and even beach walks, our clients can partake in enjoyable, sober activities. Outdoor recreational activities are great for the physical, mental & spiritual self. Footprints Beachside Recovery is in Florida and is just steps away from the beautiful Gulf of Mexico, which provides a perfect backdrop for activities aimed to help clients work through addiction recovery. Clients that attend our 60-day treatment program will experience equine therapy, a day-long addiction recovery retreat where clients interact and complete therapeutic exercises with horses hands on with specifically designed activities for emotional and relational growth. Equine therapy for addiction is a unique part of our holistic program as you begin your road to recovery with Footprints.
